Game description
SpacePortalInvader is a 2D scroller where the player directs a plane filled with passengers. This plane will fly through a portal that will make it time travel. During the level the player will be attacked by airships and turrets of the World War Two or UFOs and laser turrets from the future.
The player must bring back as many passengers as possible, for that, when the player is in difficulty to avoid the projectiles, he can open a portal to travel in time.
Game Design intent note
As a Game Designer my work was to find a simple but effective concept from the topic "Time Travel". I put in place the desire for the players to start the game again each time to make a better score by saving always more passengers.
In the game, there are different types of enemies with different behaviors depending on the time. Moreover, by time, there are also several enemy behaviors.
Level Design intent note
As a Level Designer my job was to make the fastest topology for this GameJam, for that I opted for a 2D procedural game with LD Patterns that I made. Each LD Patterns has its own difficulty, which then allowed me to establish a difficulty curve.
However, when the player changes era, the difficulty curve becomes slightly easier again than in the time when he was.
